Authentic Carne Asada Marinade

A traditional Mexican marinade for tender, flavorful grilled steak.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 lbs skirt or flank steak

Instructions

  1. Mix all ingredients except steak in a bowl.
  2. Place steak in a resealable bag or shallow dish.
  3. Pour marinade over steak, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  5. Grill steak over high heat for 4-5 minutes per side.
  6. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add 1-2 chopped jalapeños.
  • Marinate longer for more tender meat.
  • Use leftovers for tacos or burritos.
