A simple and delicious recipe for classic cocktail meatballs, perfect for parties and gatherings. These tender meatballs simmer in a sweet and tangy sauce, ideal for slow cooking and serving with toothpicks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 (18 ounce) bottle chili sauce
  • 1 (10 ounce) jar grape jelly

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a slow cooker, combine the chili sauce and grape jelly. Stir until the jelly is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. Add the meatballs to the slow cooker. Stir to coat them evenly with the sauce.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours, or on high for 1-1.5 hours, until the meatballs are cooked through and the sauce is bubbly.
  6. Serve hot with toothpicks.

Notes

  • For best results, do not overmix the meatball mixture.
  • You can prepare the meatballs ahead of time and refrigerate them until ready to cook.
  • Keep the meatballs warm in the slow cooker on the ‘warm’ setting for serving.
  • This recipe is easily adaptable for different flavor profiles. Consider adding a dash of Worcestershire sauce or a pinch of garlic powder to the meatball mixture.
