A festive and fruity red wine punch perfect for holiday gatherings, this make-ahead cranberry sangria is easy to serve and always a crowd-pleaser.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750ml) dry red wine, such as Merlot or Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1 cup cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (like Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, or to taste
  • 1 orange, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup ginger ale or sparkling water, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, cranberry juice, orange liqueur, and sugar. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
  2. Add the sliced orange and fresh cranberries to the pitcher.
  3. Stir gently to combine.
  4. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld.
  5. When ready to serve, pour the sangria into glasses filled with ice.
  6. If desired, top each glass with a splash of ginger ale or sparkling water for a touch of fizz.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar to your preference. You can also use a simple syrup for easier dissolving.
  • For a deeper flavor, you can add other fruits like apples or pears.
  • This recipe is a great option for holiday meal planning.
