A simple and vibrant fresh tomato salsa recipe, perfect for dipping chips or topping your favorite Mexican dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, finely chopped
  • 12 jalapeño peppers, seeded and minced (adjust to your spice preference)
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped red onion, minced jalapeño, and chopped cilantro.
  2. Add the lime juice and salt to the bowl.
  3. Stir gently to combine all ingredients.
  4. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  5. For best flavor, let the salsa sit for at least 15 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.

Notes

  • To make a smoother, restaurant-style salsa, you can pulse the ingredients in a food processor, but be careful not to over-process.
  • If you prefer a milder salsa, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeño peppers.
  • This salsa is best served fresh, but can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
