Ingredients
Scale
6 medium apples (about 2.5 lbs), peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup (1.5 sticks) unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with 2 tablespoons of flour, granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and nutmeg. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
In a separate medium bowl, combine 1 cup flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the oat topping evenly over the apples.
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender and bubbly.
Let the crisp cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
For a richer flavor, use a mix of apple varieties like Honeycrisp, Gala, and Granny Smith.
If you don’t have rolled oats, you can use quick oats, but the texture will be slightly different.
